Patricia Ogilvie, author of 18 books, copyeditor, formatter, writer for over a decade, and the woman clients call “A Gift to Readers and Writers,” reveals . . .

Kristine’s grin was wide as the Alberta horizon when she saw me walk through the creaking old door. “Hey, how are ya? It’s been a while since we’ve seen your delightful smile,” she said.

I turned a shade of blush. “Aw, shucks, thank you kindly. Back at ya!” I replied, trying to play it cool and delighted she recognized me at all after all this time away from the store. COVID played its “stay away” game for far too long.

The Carvel General Store has been a fixture in the community since the First World War. They have everything you need – from linens to items to deck out your homes, fancy soaps and candles, and even some art and literature from local folks. They have a motto that’s as good as it gets: Feel the history, take home a memory.

As a writer, I have been lucky enough to have my books on their shelves for years. And I can’t resist their Old Goat soaps, either.

But this isn’t about me. It’s about Kristine and how she made me feel proud to be an Alberta woman and the author of my new book.

See, Kristine’s daughter’s a real hockey player. And Kristine always wanted to lace up her own skates and hit the ice, but she didn’t think she was strong enough when she was younger. Then one day, she realized she didn’t need to be strong; she just needed to be willing.

Decades later, she became her daughter’s coach, leading a team of women ranging from fifteen to fifty-three. And age doesn’t mean a thing because when they hit that ice, they are all one unit, working together like a well-oiled machine.

But it isn’t just about hockey. Kristine has a heart as big as the Alberta big sky. There was this young girl on the team, really talented, but she couldn’t afford the fee. Kristine offered to pay it for her, with no strings attached.

Some of the other players didn’t like it and thought it was unfair. But Kristine asked them: “Would it make a difference to our league standings if she didn’t play? Would it make a difference if we helped her pay the fee?”

And they realized, yeah, it would. So they rallied behind that girl, just like they rally behind each other on the ice.

That’s the spirit of this sport and this community of women, the spirit of never giving up on your dreams. And with Kristine leading the charge, that spirit’s going to keep on burning bright.

Today, there are sixteen teams in this northern community, ageless, loving the game of women’s ice hockey. Fans fill the arenas for tournaments and regular games. The face of women’s hockey is vibrant and alive, all thanks to the spirit of never letting go of your dreams and taking them on, no matter what age.

Then I told her I wrote a book about an older woman finally pursuing her dream of playing professional hockey.

She was gobsmacked with delight!

Listen up, folks. You may think you’re stuck in your own nightmares, doomed to wander in a perpetual fog of sadness and rejection. You may say to yourself, well, that’s not me—I’m not good on skates, or I couldn’t be a coach or anything past a certain age. You might even think you need an expensive psychology coach to guide you toward the light. But guess what? My new book, The Prodigy: How Maggie Bodychecks Doubts and Fears! is here to prove you wrong.

This story—and let me tell you, it’s the ONLY story you need to read—will inspire you to take on the world. It’ll clear your head of all those pesky doubts and fears. And it’ll make you realize that hockey is not just for a select few—or any sport or activity you desire—it’s for anyone who’s willing to work hard and believe in themselves.

And the best part? You can achieve all this in just a few hours. That’s right, folks. The Prodigy will turn your life around in less time than it takes to wash a load of laundry, sweep the floor, watch a movie, and finish a cup of tea. And who wants to do those? Right?

Now, you might be thinking: who is this gal, and why should I listen to her ranting about a book on women’s hockey? Well, let me tell you. I used to be an adult educator of written and oral communications—not exactly the most glamorous profession, but it taught me a thing or two about helping people. And since then, I’ve used my wordsmithing, my sports fanaticism, and my M.Ed. in Educational Administration to help hundreds of writers and authors fulfill their dreams. I’ve listened to people of all ages fighting themselves to do what they wanted since before they realized time waits for no one!

But you don’t have to take my word for it. Just listen to what some of my readers have to say about my latest book. They’re not special people with special advantages. They’re just like you and me. And if they can appreciate dreams are real, so can you.

“Although childhood may lay claim to the state of prodigy, being prodigious (remarkably or impressively great in extent, size, or degree) is a wide-open opportunity for anyone of any age. Great message to impress upon the world and all of a certain age.” – Patricia Katz, Speaker, Author, Artist

“I always look forward to reading one of Patricia Ogilvie’s books. Inspiring and provocative.” – Sherry Pysyk, Mother of an NHL Player

So let’s talk about the price. You could spend years feeling frustrated with yourself and throwing away between $25 to $125 for manuals and courses. Or you could do nothing and remain stuck, spending anywhere from $99 to $499 on useless products and services to change your mind about your future. But with The Prodigy, you’ll not only save money, but you’ll also gain the confidence and inspiration to take on the world. It’s a great book!

Think about it. If I just handed you a wad of cash, would you turn it down? Of course not. So don’t turn down this opportunity to change your life for the better. The Prodigy is waiting for you.

I have written a reasonably priced book that I’m pretty sure you will love (scratch that, I am absolutely sure you will love it).

The Prodigy: How Maggie Bodychecks Doubts and Fears! is THE ONLY story:

  • That will take you on a journey to feel inspired to take on the world,
  • That erases fears and doubts in less than a few hours of reading it,
  • That reverses the belief that hockey is for just a few and not you (maybe),
  • And that makes your friends envy your strength and conviction to follow your dreams.

I’m talking too much!
